Character biography

PHIL

Phil is a 10 year old boy who's father is known wide for his amazing fruit and vegetables, because of this, his family run the annual county farm show. Phil is a joyful young boy, mysterious and mischievous. He likes to figure things out and find the answer to all the questions.

FIDO

Fido is a "mid-teen" hound dog who runs alongside Phil in everything he does, they are best friends and solve all of their mysteries together.

MR WILSON.

Mr Wilson i s a mean man, one he cheats and is never happy. His facial expression never changes in regards to a smile, he'll frown differently from time to time and maybe raise an eyebrow at you. this makes his a hard person to judge, which is why Phil always finds himself snooping around him.

Film Review: La Jetee

la jetee

Character: Fido

Here is my character Fido, a hound dog and my main characters side-kick. Fido is mid-puppy stage, so he is still young looking and small but developing an adults body. He is a chirpy, happy dog, but completely reliant on his best friend, Phil.

Story revisited

After tips from Phil i have decided to shorten my story, I want to keep all three characters, the two farms and the idea of the magic juice. Phil and Fido are still a boy and dog, but Phil is the detective this time with his trusty sidekick dog, Fido. Mr Wilson is still the villain.

There is farm show happening on the farmyard. Phil's dad grows the best vegetables and fruit, his farm is chosen to run the show, Mr Wilson is terrible at growing anything, so he creates a magic juice that makes anything awful taste amazing, he uses this to cheat, Phil and Fido find it very strange that Mr. Wilson's food can taste so good but look so bad? They investigate into his farmyard and find the serum, they use the water pistol to spray on everyone's fruit so that everyone wins best in show.

From script to screen: Revisited

After being advised by Jacky and Phil, they pointed out that i wasn't using my scene to it's fullest, so here are some new ideas what my story could be.

A. Revisiting the story of the young boy and his farm. I went towards what Jacky suggested with the animals being a detective, a sniffer dog. To incorporate more with the animals I decided to take this towards the farm animals rather than a house pet. So this story starts with the private detective being a sheep. The animals all watch the private detective show from the window while the child watches and one little sheep watches to get his ideas. He practices the techniques on the hay barrels.

B. This story is keeping the idea of the private detective animal, except the story is set on a fair/show which is being held inside the barn and on the farmyard, showing off the animals and winning ribbons. One animal (best in show, beautiful sheep) is taken. The thieves use a water pistol filled with Green fluorescent proteins, which when exposed to UV rays glow blue, but is invisible to the naked eye, and spray the animals with the liquid discretely to notify the other thieves that this is an animal to take. The thieves spray the best in show (Possible name: Lucy).

C. Old man who was once a private detective talks to his animals about the old days of him and his work, having flash backs and the animals roll their eyes, knowing they've heard these stories before.

D. Old man was back flashes while working on his farm of his days being a private detective. The flashbacks recur when he sees a familiar face, object or animal, the water pistol (left by his grandson) representing a gun which sets off a flash back.

E. Old sniffer dog that belonged to a private detective now living on a farm yard along with his new family, mother/father/young child. The old sniffer dog notices an odd smell in the water while playing with the child. He sniffs along the water pipes to find that people have been dumping poisons into the farms water supply affecting their crop and animals. The dog finds the culprit

F. Similar stories to C and D except with the sniffer dog included as well as a double detective duo.

From Script to Screen

From Script to Screen:

From the "Mysterious Blu Box" I picked the words:

Character: Private Detective

Place: Farmyard

Prop: Water Pistol

1. I wasn't too happy when I pulled out Private Detective as I felt this character linked slightly to the previous project and I wanted something different, but once I got the next two words I was much happier.

2. I have taken a few different approaches and wanted to get all the generic ideas out and away, such as:

3. Private detective that searches people, only clue is a water pistol, finds that person in a farmyard.

4. Young child who loves watching the show of his favorite detective, lives on a farmyard, uses the water pistol to shoot at the farm animals who he pretends are bad guys.

5. Man being searched for by private detective, similar to the first story but the opposite (story concentrated more on the man being searched for rather than following the detective.

6. Two brothers, twins, one’s naughty and the other is not. One brother (the detective) trying to find who made everything wet, they live on a farm, turns out it's the other brother using his water pistol.

7. Water pistol used to contain germ/virus/chemical (used by by villain) Farm yard is the hidden lair.

8. Worst villain. The villain is pretty rubbish (think like Mega-mind in regards to what the charater is like) he is quite poor so his weapon of choice is a water pistol, his lair is hidden in the farm yard's barn, and the private detective is after him.
