Research - Bow tie and blinds

To simplify the overall look of our character, I looked at ways he would wear a bow tie.

My first ideas were to remove his robe and stick with the cravat. I then tried different ways he could have a cravat.

Blinds

After some research about how our "window" joke would work, I found this scene from Family Guy as inspiration.

The idea's of what the blinds are:

• kelp and coral fold up blind
• Seaweed roll-up
• A blind that was originally on the ship that has grown coral

Character & Hollywood formula - Shrek

Wants - Shrek wants to have piece and quiet on his swamp

Needs - He needs to learn that being alone isn't better for him, he needs friends

Flaws - Shrek is selfish and only see's Fiona as a trophy to get what he thinks he wants

Change - Shrek starts to fall in love with Fiona

Conflict - Fiona is to be wed with Lord Farquaad, he fights to have her.

Narrative structure & hollywood

Incident/inciting - Sophie was turned into an old woman by the witch of the west, Sophie walks up the mountain side where she encounters Howls moving castle.

Rising agent -  Howl keeps hidden from Madame Suliman to keep from fitting in the war. But he is being summoned to see her under three different aliases.

Climax - Howl helps bring down war ships to stop them from dropping bombs near his home, he grows weak and so does the connection to his human form and his heart.

Falling action - Sophie learns about howls childhood and how he lost his heart, she knows how to save him.

Resolution - Sophie brings howls heart back to him, they find the lost prince who was following them around as a cursed speechless scarecrow, the war ends.

Character Design Ideas

Here are a few character idea's that jumped to mind when I thought about what our fish could look like, we wanted a "snooty" fish, so i went down a few roots, a more weighty fish, a properly proportioned fish, and a thin fish.

Ok, so my group and I have been trying to figure out our story and with the three factors we've got, we're having a struggle to place them together, so I thought of a possible new story line that will hopefully help us!

Angler Fish!

So the story goes quite simple, the little angler fish wants a bigger, brighter, better light. So he tried using all sorts from LED to car bulbs to disco lights,

 but when he finally finds a really nice bright one, no one goes near him as it's too bright and he is easily seen by predators, so he goes back to his original light.

Here are some different types (breeds) of angler fish.

Angler fish are ugly, lets be honest, so can we style a new one? well of course! I done some research on different artist styles and if we have a small angler fish (maybe a baby) we could make him look quite cute, if there is such a thing as a 'cute' angler fish?

After discussing style's with my group, we came to the idea of incorporating both 2D and 3D, or how Alan put it 2.5D. Here are some examples of possible styles which incorporate 2D and 3D or in which looks like it's 2D.
