It sounds as though you have a good idea of your narrative, Lisa. Think about how you will make the transition from a peaceful, happy atmosphere to a dark and scary one. You'll need to record some long ambiences that reflect the emotion of each part of your narrative, so perhaps a stream or a tap for the running water and something more menacing for the second half.
